La Turbie
La Turbie is a village in the Alpes-Maritimes, south-eastern France, on a height above Monaco. It is known for the Tropaeum Alpium, a monument built in 7–6 BCE to celebrate Augustus' conquest of the Alpine peoples, whose names are listed in its inscription. The village grew up around the ruined monument, which was partly restored in the twentieth century.
