Irish Declaration of Independence
The Irish Declaration of Independence was adopted by Dáil Éireann, the assembly of Sinn Féin members elected in 1918, at its first meeting in Dublin on 21 January 1919. It ratified the Irish Republic proclaimed in 1916 and called on English forces to leave. The same day the first shots of the Irish War of Independence were fired.
