Isle (river)
The Isle is a river of south-western France, about 255 kilometres long, which rises in the Limousin and flows west through the Dordogne department, past Périgueux, to join the Dordogne at Libourne. Its valley was the territory of the Gallic Petrocorii, and Périgueux, their Roman capital Vesunna, grew on its banks.
