Jericho
Jericho is a city in the West Bank near the Jordan River, north of the Dead Sea, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, with settlement at Tell es-Sultan from about 9000 BCE. Its springs and palm groves made it a royal estate under the Hasmoneans and Herod the Great, who built winter palaces there.
