Kachin people
The Kachin are a group of related peoples of the hills of northern Myanmar and neighbouring parts of China and India, the largest of them the Jingpo. Traditionally living by swidden farming under hereditary chiefs, they long interacted with the Shan princes of the valleys. Under British rule many became Christians, and since independence the Kachin Independence Organisation has fought the Burmese government for autonomy.
