Kaduna River

The Kaduna River is a tributary of the Niger in central Nigeria. It rises on the Jos Plateau and flows west and south-west past the city of Kaduna, which takes its name from it, to join the Niger. The Shiroro Dam on its course supplies hydroelectric power. In the 19th century its valley was a zone of slave raiding by the emirates of the Sokoto Caliphate, including Kontagora and Zaria.
