Kakegawa Castle

Kakegawa Castle is a Japanese castle in Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture, in the former province of Tōtōmi. Built in the early 16th century by a retainer of the Imagawa clan, it was where Imagawa Ujizane held out against Tokugawa Ieyasu before surrendering in 1569. Its keep, wrecked by an earthquake in 1854, was rebuilt in wood in 1994.
