Kalisz
Kalisz is a city in Greater Poland on the Prosna river, often regarded as the oldest town in Poland and identified with the Calisia mentioned by Ptolemy. In the Middle Ages it was the seat of a Piast duchy, and there in 1264 Duke Bolesław the Pious issued the Statute of Kalisz granting privileges to Jews. The Treaty of Kalisz with the Teutonic Order was signed there in 1343.
