Kangra Fort

Also known as Nagarkot

Kangra Fort, historically Nagarkot, is a large hill fort near Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, India, and the seat of the Katoch rulers of Kangra. It guarded a rich temple treasury that Mahmud of Ghazni plundered in 1009. The Mughals took it in 1620, Raja Sansar Chand regained it in 1786, and it later passed to the Sikhs and the British. An earthquake in 1905 badly damaged it.
