Karaman
Karaman is a city in south-central Turkey, known in Byzantine and Seljuk times as Larende. From the late 13th century it was a main seat of the Karamanid dynasty, which gave the city its modern name and built mosques and madrasas there. After the Ottoman conquest in the 15th century it gave its name to the Ottoman province of Karaman, and it is now a provincial capital.
