The Karrani dynasty was an Afghan dynasty that ruled Bengal from 1564 to 1576, the last independent sultans of Bengal. Taj Khan Karrani took Gaur in 1564, and his brother Sulaiman Khan Karrani moved the capital to Tanda, conquered Orissa in 1568 and outwardly acknowledged Akbar. His son Daud Khan defied the Mughals and was defeated and killed after the Battle of Rajmahal in 1576.
