Kathmandu
Kathmandu is the capital and largest city of Nepal, in the Kathmandu Valley in the Himalayan foothills. As Kantipur it was the seat of one of the three Malla kingdoms of the valley, whose rulers built much of its Durbar Square. Prithvi Narayan Shah of Gorkha captured it in 1768 and made it the capital of the unified Kingdom of Nepal.
