Khyber Pass

The Khyber Pass is a mountain pass linking Afghanistan with the plains of the north-western Indian subcontinent, in present-day Pakistan. It has long been a key route for armies and trade entering India. Nader Shah of the Afsharid Empire used it during his invasion of India, and the Sikh Empire extended its control towards the pass in the nineteenth century.
