Kimmeridge

Kimmeridge is a coastal village in Dorset, England, which gives its name to the Kimmeridge Clay of the Jurassic period. The local oil shale was worked from the Iron Age into the Roman period, when it was turned on lathes into bracelets and carved into furniture. The bay is also known for its fossils and for an oil well that has operated since 1959.
