Kirov
Kirov is a city on the Vyatka river in north-eastern European Russia, the centre of Kirov Oblast. First reliably recorded in the 14th century as Khlynov, the main town of the Vyatka land settled from Novgorod, it was annexed by Moscow in 1489. It was renamed Vyatka in 1780 and Kirov in 1934, after the assassinated Bolshevik leader Sergei Kirov.
