Kongsberg
Kongsberg is a town in south-eastern Norway, founded in 1624 by Christian IV after silver was discovered nearby in 1623. The Kongsberg silver mines became the largest industrial enterprise in eighteenth-century Norway and an important source of royal revenue, and the town was for a time one of Norway's largest. The mines operated until 1958, and the royal mint was based there.
