Korean War
The Korean War began on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea. A United Nations force led by the United States drove the North back towards the Chinese border, and the People's Republic of China then intervened with massive forces. After the front stabilised near the 38th parallel, an armistice was signed in July 1953. The war turned occupied Japan into a supply base and hardened Cold War divisions.
