Kornelimünster

Kornelimünster is a district of Aachen in western Germany that grew around a Benedictine abbey founded in 814 by Louis the Pious for Benedict of Aniane, at a place then called Inda. The abbey took its new name from relics of Pope Cornelius received in 875, and its abbots ruled a small imperial territory until 1802. Its abbey church, which keeps relics associated with the Passion, remains a pilgrimage site.
