Kota Bharu

Kota Bharu is a city near the mouth of the Kelantan river in north-eastern Peninsular Malaysia and the royal capital of the state of Kelantan. Sultan Muhammad II made it the seat of government in the 19th century. On 8 December 1941 Japanese troops landed on the nearby beaches, shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor, opening the Malayan campaign.
