Krujë

Also known as Kruja, Croia

Krujë is a town in north-central Albania, on a mountainside above the coastal plain. In the late 12th century it was the centre of Arbanon, the first Albanian principality. Its castle became Skanderbeg's stronghold in his war against the Ottomans and withstood sieges in 1450, 1466 and 1467 before falling in 1478. A museum dedicated to Skanderbeg stands inside the castle.
