Lezhë

Also known as Lissus, Alessio

Lezhë is a town in north-western Albania near the mouth of the Drin. As ancient Lissus it was a fortified Illyrian and Greek settlement where Illyrian kings struck coins, and it later became a Roman town. In 1444 it hosted the assembly that formed the League of Lezhë, the alliance of Albanian nobles under Skanderbeg, who was buried in its cathedral in 1468.
