Kuthodaw Pagoda
The Kuthodaw Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa at the foot of Mandalay Hill in Myanmar, built by King Mindon and completed in 1868. Around it stand 729 small shrines, each sheltering a marble slab inscribed with part of the Pali canon, the Tipitaka, often called the world's largest book. The texts were revised at the Fifth Buddhist Council convened by Mindon in 1871.
