Kyle, Ayrshire
Kyle is a historic district of central Ayrshire in south-west Scotland, lying between the rivers Irvine and Doon. In the early Middle Ages it was part of the Brittonic north; Eadberht of Northumbria annexed it in 750, extending Northumbrian rule westward. In later centuries it was divided into King's Kyle and Kyle Stewart and remained a district of Ayrshire.
