Kyōgoku clan

The Kyōgoku clan was a Japanese warrior family, a branch of the Sasaki of Ōmi province. In the Muromachi period they served as shugo governors of northern Ōmi, Izumo, Oki and Hida, but in the Sengoku period they lost power to their deputies, the Amago in Izumo and the Azai in Ōmi. The family recovered under Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the Tokugawa, holding domains such as Matsue and Marugame.
