Labashi-Marduk

r. 556 BCE · 6th century BCE

Labashi-Marduk was king of Babylon for a few months in 556 BCE, succeeding his father Neriglissar while still young. He was murdered in a conspiracy of court officials, which brought Nabonidus to the throne. His brief reign was the last of four in six years after the death of Nebuchadnezzar II, showing the instability of the Neo-Babylonian monarchy.
