Lake Assad
Lake Assad is a reservoir on the Euphrates in northern Syria, created by the Tabqa Dam and filled from 1974. About 80 kilometres long, it is Syria's largest lake and supplies water and electricity to Aleppo and much of the north. International salvage excavations before the flooding investigated sites such as Emar, Habuba Kabira and Tell Abu Hureyra.
