Lake Beloye
Lake Beloye, the White Lake, is a large lake in Vologda Oblast in northern Russia, covering about 1,100 square kilometres. Its outflow, the Sheksna, runs south to the Volga. The town of Beloozero, now Belozersk, stood on its shores, and the lake was part of the northern water routes linking the Volga with the White Sea and the Baltic. Today it is part of the Volga-Baltic Waterway.
