Lake Galich

Lake Galich is a shallow lake in Kostroma Oblast in central Russia, covering about 75 square kilometres, with the town of Galich on its south-eastern shore. Its basin was settled by the Finnic Merya before Slavic colonisation in the early Middle Ages. Archaeologists have found prehistoric remains, including the Galich hoard of Bronze Age metalwork, near the lake.
