Limbu people
The Limbu, who call themselves Yakthung, are a Tibeto-Burman-speaking people of eastern Nepal and neighbouring Sikkim and Darjeeling. Their homeland, Limbuwan, kept considerable autonomy after it was absorbed into the kingdom of Nepal in the 1770s. Counted among the Kiranti peoples, they have their own script and a religious tradition based on oral texts called the Mundhum.
