Litunga
Litunga, meaning 'keeper of the earth', is the title of the king of the Lozi people of Barotseland in western Zambia. The Litunga ruled through a council (kuta) of titled officials and controlled land, labour and tribute across the Zambezi floodplain. The office survives today as a traditional monarchy with its seats at Lealui and Limulunga.
