Loarn mac Eirc

fl. c. 500 · 6th century

Loarn mac Eirc is a legendary founder of Dál Riata, said in medieval genealogies to be a brother of Fergus Mór who crossed from Ireland to Argyll around 500. The Cenél Loairn, one of the main kindreds of Dál Riata, claimed descent from him, and the district of Lorn in Argyll is said to bear his name. His historical existence is uncertain.
