Ferchar Fota

d. 697 · 7th century

Ferchar Fota, 'the Tall', was a king of Cenél Loairn in northern Argyll who in the late 7th century also held the kingship of Dál Riata, displacing the rival Cenél nGabráin. He is recorded in the Irish annals, which date his death to 697. His son Selbach succeeded him, and later Scottish genealogies traced the kings of Moray back to his line.
