Lomé

Lomé is the capital and chief port of Togo, on the Gulf of Guinea near the border with Ghana. Germany made it the capital of the colony of Togoland in 1897 and built a wharf and railways inland. It remained the capital of French Togoland and of independent Togo from 1960, and gave its name to the Lomé Conventions between Europe and African, Caribbean and Pacific states.
