Lomellina

The Lomellina is a lowland district of south-western Lombardy, in the province of Pavia, between the Ticino, the Po and the Sesia, named after the town of Lomello. Fought over by Pavia, Milan, Novara and Savoy in the Middle Ages, it passed to Savoy in 1707. It is now one of Europe's main rice-growing areas.
