Lordship of Rappoltstein

Also known as Ribeaupierre

The Lordship of Rappoltstein (Ribeaupierre) was a territory in Upper Alsace centred on Ribeauvillé, held by the lords of Rappoltstein from the Middle Ages, whose three castles stand above the town. When the family died out in 1673, it passed by marriage to Christian II of Palatinate-Birkenfeld, and the Wittelsbachs held it until the French Revolution.
