Lotus Sutra

Also known as Saddharmapundarika Sutra

The Lotus Sutra is one of the most influential scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism, composed in India around the 1st century CE. It teaches that all beings can attain Buddhahood and that the Buddha uses skilful means to lead them. Kumarajiva's Chinese translation of 406 became the standard version in East Asia, and the sutra is the basis of the Tiantai and Tendai schools and of Nichiren Buddhism.
