893–911 · 10th century · Also known as Louis IV of East Francia

Louis the Child was king of East Francia from 900 to 911, the son of Emperor Arnulf of Carinthia and the last of the East Frankish Carolingians. Crowned at the age of six, he reigned under the guidance of bishops while Magyar raids devastated the kingdom and regional dukes grew powerful. He appointed Gebhard duke in Lotharingia in 903. On his death the nobles elected Conrad I.
