Andernach
Andernach is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, on the left bank of the Rhine north-west of Koblenz. Founded as a Roman fort, Antunnacum, it is one of the oldest towns in Germany. Two battles were fought near it in the 9th and 10th centuries, including that of 939, in which rebels against Otto I were defeated and Duke Gilbert of Lotharingia drowned in the Rhine.
