Luftwaffe
The Luftwaffe was the air force of Nazi Germany, unveiled in 1935 in defiance of the Treaty of Versailles and commanded by Hermann Göring. It supported the Blitzkrieg campaigns of 1939–1941 but was defeated in the Battle of Britain and worn down by Allied air power by 1944; the name is also used for the air force of present-day Germany.
