Mabo v Queensland (No 2)
Mabo v Queensland (No 2) was a 1992 decision of the High Court of Australia in a case brought by Eddie Mabo and other Meriam people of the Torres Strait. The court rejected the doctrine that Australia had been terra nullius, land belonging to no one, at British settlement, and recognised native title. Parliament followed with the Native Title Act of 1993.
