Canberra
Canberra is the capital of Australia, built in the Australian Capital Territory as a compromise between the rival cities of Sydney and Melbourne. The site was chosen in 1908 and named in 1913, and the city was planned by the American architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin around an artificial lake. Parliament moved there from Melbourne in 1927.
