Madinat ash-Sha'b
Madinat ash-Sha'b is a town on the western side of Aden in Yemen, built from 1959 as Al Ittihad, the purpose-built capital of the British-sponsored Federation of Arab Emirates of the South and its successor, the Federation of South Arabia. It housed the federal council and ministries. After the British withdrawal and the independence of South Yemen in 1967 it was renamed Madinat ash-Sha'b, the People's City.
