Mahanandin

4th century BCE · 4th century BCE

Mahanandin was, according to the Puranas, the last king of the Shishunaga dynasty of Magadha, reigning in the 4th century BCE. The Puranas say that Mahapadma Nanda, the founder of the Nanda dynasty, was his son by a Shudra woman and overthrew the old dynasty around 345 BCE, although the date is uncertain. Little is known of his reign beyond these traditional lists.
