Mahipala I (Pala)
Mahipala I was king of the Pala dynasty of Bengal and Bihar from about 988 to 1038. He revived Pala power after a century of decline by recovering northern and eastern Bengal, and he restored Buddhist monasteries. His reign saw the Chola expedition of Rajendra I to the Ganges around 1021–1023, which claimed a victory over him.
