Also known as Mir Mahmud Hotak

Mahmud Hotak was an Afghan ruler of the Ghilzai Hotak dynasty, son of Mirwais Hotak. In 1722 he defeated the Safavid army at Gulnabad and besieged and captured Isfahan, forcing Shah Sultan Husayn to abdicate. This effectively ended the Safavid Empire.
