Kandahar
Kandahar is a city in southern Afghanistan, long contested between Iranian and Indian powers. Under the late Safavid Empire, its Sunni Ghilzai Afghans revolted under Mir Wais from 1704. His son Mir Mahmud Hotak invaded Iran and took Isfahan in 1722, bringing down the Safavid state.
