Maria Lekapene
Maria Lekapene (died c. 963) was a Byzantine princess, granddaughter of the emperor Romanos I Lekapenos, who married Tsar Peter I of Bulgaria in 927. The marriage sealed the peace that ended Simeon I's wars, by which Byzantium recognised Peter's imperial title and the Bulgarian patriarchate. She took the name Irene, 'peace', on her marriage and was the mother of Boris II and Roman.
