Person
Nicholas I Mystikos
Nicholas I Mystikos was Patriarch of Constantinople from 901 to 907 and again from 912 until his death. He was deposed for opposing the fourth marriage of Emperor Leo VI, then restored, and led the regency for the young Constantine VII in 913–914, when he crowned Simeon I of Bulgaria. His letters record the mission that converted the Alans to Christianity around 916.
