Market reforms of Alauddin Khalji

Also known as state-controlled markets

The market reforms of Alauddin Khalji were measures introduced by the sultan of Delhi in the early fourteenth century to control prices and supplies in the capital. Officials fixed prices for grain and other goods and enforced them strictly. The reforms helped Alauddin maintain a large army to resist Mongol invasions without raising soldiers' pay.
