Drought and climate change
Drought and climate change refers to environmental shifts, such as prolonged droughts, cooling or failing monsoons, that undermined harvests, pastures and state revenues. Such pressures are linked to the collapse of the Akkadian Empire, the decline of the Khmer Empire and the Ming Empire, and the weakening of the Xiongnu Empire through droughts and catastrophic winters.
